Monica Florescu

Born in Bucharest, Romania, Monica Florescu started to develop her musical abilities at a very young age. It was at the age of eight that she made her first important solo concert in the Athenaeum Hall in Bucharest as laureate of the "Lira de Aur" Competition in Suceava, Romania.

She received her musical education in her birth town, at the "George Enescu" High school, and at the University of Music in Bucharest (she graduated in 2004) where she studied with musicians and teachers such as Professor Constantin lonescu Vovu and Veronica Gaspar, PhD.

In her career she performed as a soloist with orchestras in Romania and Belgium, performing concertos of W.A. Mozart, M. Ravel, P. Swerts (view in Google video), F. Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (double Concerto for violin, piano and orchestra) with Akasha Orchestra. As well she had piano recitals in Romania, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Mexico etc.

Beneficiary of an Erasmus-Socrates Scholarship, in 2002, she went to study abroad in Belgium, in the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp, where she graduated with Honours on "Master in Music" Diploma (2003) and with Great Honours on

Specialization - Piano as Solo Performer (2004) under the guidance of Professor Pascal Sigrist.

In October 2002 she created Spirale Piano Trio together with Pedro Pozos and Makcim Fernandez Samodaiev with whom she followed her studies in Specialization - Chamber Music under the guidance of Professor Jozef de Beenhouwer in the same Conservatory. She graduated with honors in 2006. Nowadays Monica Florescu is developing an intense musical activity, by performing piano solo and chamber music recitals with Spirale Piano Trio worldwide.
