Ben Kass

When graduating with distinction from the Givatayim conservatory, when he was only 16, Ben Kass left to New York, having been invited to study at the Juilliard School of Music with Dr. Yoheved Kaplinsky.

Ben graduated from Juilliard and moved to Belgium where he continued his studies with André De Groote at the Brussels Royal Conservatory. Three years later he became a disciple of Mr. Alan Weiss, studying first at the Utrecht Conservatory in Holland , where he received his Bachelor degree followed by Post-Graduate studies in Utrecht as well.
Further studies included the Lemmens Institute in Belgium, where he received a Master degree in Music Performance and Pedagogic, in 2001, with high distinction and Master program studies in composition and analysis at the Brussels conservatory.

Ben was awarded several prizes and distinctions. In 1995 he received the “Rotary Club International” Award in Tel Aviv, Israel. In 1998 he became a member of the “Carlo Van Neste Foundation” in Brussels, Belgium and in 2001 he was awarded the prestigious Huygens Award in Den Hage, Holland, for achievement in his Post-Graduate studies.

He gave solo and chamber music concerts at the Brussels Royal Conservatory Concert Hall, “Paul Hall” at Lincoln Center in New York, Espace Sanghor in Brussels and the Tel-Aviv conservatory in Israel. At the “Van Burren” museum in Brussels he was invited to interpret a complete Erik Satie program on the master’s own piano. At the “Vredenburg” concert hall in Utrecht, Holland, he performed Mozart's piano concerto KV415 with his own cadenzas.

Recitals and concerts appearances in several festivals, among which are the “EPRIM” festival in Maastricht, Holland; the “Midis-Minimes” festival in Brussels; the “Ravello” festival in Italy; the “Monteverdi” festival in Brussels; the “Max Reger” festival in Germany and the “HKU” festival in Holland.

Ben's compositional style was described as Romantic Contemporary by acclaimed Belgian Composer Piet Swerts.
In the past four years, Ben has dedicated himself to the study of new compositional techniques, sampled recordings and the development of his home studio.

Ben is also an enthusiastic pedagogue. He has been teaching in several different music academies in Belgium, and holds a position as piano teacher at the music academy of Schoten, Belgium.

Together with renowned Bass-Baritone Gidon Saks, he performed and gave master-classes in Stavanger, Norway at the Institute For the Living Voices, in 2007.
